EYFS Folders and Planning

As your child achieves new skills and enjoys learning through the wonderful play opportunities, we’d like to work in partnership with you to record these as ‘memories and milestones’. Your child will have a login to our development App in which we ask you to tell us about learning they do at home and we add photos and observation notes of their learning here at nursery.

You know your child best. We want to build on your knowledge, working together to set targets for their next steps in learning using the Early Years Framework, which guides us with areas of learning. We work with you to build the skills and attitudes for your child to be a good learner for their onwards life-long learning journey!

This portal will always be available for you to view, add to at least once a month to add comments and photos and help us set targets for their next learning steps. We’d also love to hear about your child’s home interests so we can build on those in our planning.

We really do believe that children make the best progress when their number one teachers, you, are talking closely with us.

Each child has their individual targets and learning record within it. All observations will be reviewed by your child’s key person to plan activities and play opportunities to extend your child’s learning.

We will also review that progress every three months and write update reports every six months to share with you more formally. Of course, you can talk to us daily about their learning progress too!

When a child is ready to move onto an older room, a transition report is written to ensure their next key person understands how a child has progressed and what they have enjoyed. We’d also ask you to spend some time getting to know the new room and staff, and telling the new key person all about your child, completing our key information sheets again, as we’re sure things will have changed quite a bit!
